General presentation

Hydra is the largest of the 88 modern constellations. Visible mainly in spring, it extends over a huge portion of the sky and crosses several famous constellations such as Leo, Virgo and Corvus.

Shape of the Hydra constellation

The constellation of Hydra has the shape of a huge water snake. Its stars draw a very long sinuous line crossing the sky, with a well identifiable head composed of several grouped stars and a body that winds on more than one hundred degrees.
