General presentation
The constellation of Ophiuchus, or Serpentary, is a vast constellation visible mainly in summer. Located near the constellation of Scorpius and Sagittarius, it crosses the ecliptic and is sometimes considered as a thirteenth zodiacal constellation. It contains many globular clusters and deep sky objects.
Shape of the Ophiuchus constellation
The constellation of Ophiuchus is shaped like a man holding a large snake in his arms. Its stars draw a central silhouette evoking the body of the character, while the snake is shared between the two parts of the constellation of the Serpent, located on either side of Ophiuchus.
